The Meliora Group has invested in a new Heidelberg Diana Easy folder-gluer for its Delga Press packaging business, allowing it to produce smaller cartons.
Capable of making up cartons as narrow as 45mm, the Diana Easy runs at up to 300m/min on solid board up to 600gsm or E flute corrugated.
The new machine, which will run alongside Delga’s post-press lineup of Alba and Vega folder-gluers, will serve Delga’s fleet of HP Indigo 12000HD, Komori GL540C and Heidelberg CD102 presses.
Adding the Diana to Delga’s varied lineup was a smooth process, according to director Sam Grist.
He told Printweek: “Training went well. The trainer was very thorough and the quality of our operator helped the whole process run smoothly.”
Strong customer support, he added, had been one of the reasons why Meliora chose Heidelberg’s machine in the first place, alongside its ability to produce smaller cartons than the company's existing machines could handle.
“[The support has been] everything you would expect when you purchase from Heidelberg,” Grist added.
While Meliora considered a variety of different manufacturers for the investment, Heidelberg clinched the sale.
“The Diana has always had a very good reputation in the industry and after looking at all of the options available to us this was the best suited for the business,” said Grist.
The machine has already sped up Delga’s make-ready times, and has besides cut the need for make-readies on some jobs altogether.
“We now have four dedicated glue lines for folding box board cartons meaning we can leave certain lines set up in popular formats. The new machine coupled with the updated glue system will bring benefits in speed of running and better control,” Grist added.
